The Advantages of Hiring a Wedding Planner

We recently got the chance to ask some questions that many couples have when considering a wedding planner. Thanks to Tara Ybarra, the Co-Owner & Wedding Planner for Ybarra Events.

What’s the advantage of hiring a wedding planner?

Hiring a wedding planner can take an enormous amount of stress off the planning process. There are a lot of little details that go into the day, and a planner will make sure everything is done and not forgotten. planners also have so much experience and knowledge to rely on. We have vendors we have worked with that we have confidence will do a good job, and can recommend them throughout the process. We know what to look for in contracts and can make sure you are booking vendors that are treating you right. From the design aspect, planners can pull together your ideas and make them one cohesive event. If you found something you would like to replicate on Pinterest, planners generally know where you can get the item or a similar look for a decent price.

A wedding day is probably the most important time to have a planner. There are so many little details we take care of that would end up falling on the wedding couple, the parent(s), or one of the wedding party members. For more information on the types of tasks planners handle leading up to the wedding day and on the wedding day itself, take a peek at our blog.

How much time do you spend working with a wedding planner?

It definitely differs, depending on which package you have hired your planner for, but for full-service planning, it takes me on average 60 or so hours of planning to get the job done. Because of our experience, planners are able to cut out a ton of the reaching it would take a couple to plan their wedding on their own. We also have templates and checklists already made up. We know what questions to ask and what information each vendor needs to successfully complete their jobs. Planners can effectively take about a fourth of the time it would take a couple with no planning experience. Of course, that can vary greatly.

Should you tip a wedding planner?

Most (if not all) planners do not require or expect tips. Couples commonly tip planners if they feel the planner has done an amazing job.
